NASA Apollo 15 American Moonphase

In 2019 we launched a watch to commemorate the 50th anniversary of NASA's moon landing, which went on to become the most funded timepiece in Kickstarter history, with nearly 18,000 backers. NASA didn't stop with just one moon landing.

In 1971, the Apollo 15 mission took lunar exploration to the next level when they introduced the first lunar roving vehicle. This "moon buggy" covered a distance of over 17 miles, allowing astronauts to explore and collect samples further from the lunar module than ever before.

Like NASA, we don’t stop developing and improving our products. We’re celebrating American ingenuity and proudly introduce the Xeric NASA Apollo 15 50th Anniversary Collection, the first Xeric watches to feature American Moonphase movements.

press coverage

Xeric watches are designed in California and produced on an artisanal scale, making high-end mechanical features accessible to a broad cross-section of horological enthusiasts. We are a small company that has a combined 50 years of experience in the watch industry. We've seen it all and we’re designing watches that will surely be the most unique timepiece in any room.

apollo 15 features

We've kept the best elements of the original design and made significant upgrades. The overall size of the watch is now slimmer, lighter, and more wearable for a greater variety of wrist sizes.

american movements

We’re excited to bring movement manufacturing back home. All movements in the Apollo 15 collection are assembled, tested, and regulated in Fountain Hills, Arizona, utilizing industry-leading standards and advanced manufacturing methods.

realistic moonphase

The Apollo 15 Moonphase shows off the moon’s craters which were created from meteorites striking its surface. When the lights go out, the Super-LumiNova luminous material shines bright.

horween leather

Fashioned after astronaut gloves, the Apollo 15 straps feature articulated ridges and are crafted using premium, full-grain leather from Horween, one of the oldest continuously running tanneries in the United States. The strap also has a built-in, quick release springbar system allowing you to swap out different straps for any occasion.

sapphire glass

Like an astronaut’s helmet, the curved sapphire crystal provides the ultimate in scratch resistance while an anti-reflective coating reduces glare.

space window

The simplified grille has a conical shape like the command module with crew access hatch shapes for each hour. Along with the crew hatch window, the command module also had a side window. Imagine gazing out from the hatch window at the vast expanse of space as the moon comes into view.

We improved legibility in dark conditions by using negative space as the hour and minute markers. This allowed us to increase the surface area of the Swiss Super-LumiNova so indices glow brighter and longer after being charged with UV light.

limited edition

All variations of the NASA Apollo 15 collection features a coin-engraved solid stainless steel caseback depicting the lunar rover in action and commemorating the 50th anniversary of its arrival on the surface of the moon. Each colorway will be limited to 1971 pieces and will be individually numbered.
